Harvest at Algy’s Farm

A quick but challenging start to this year’s harvest.

Harvest began with our Buccaneer winter barley, with 75 tonnes gathered from the field. This malting barley will now travel to Ryburgh, where it will be malted before beginning the next stage of its journey.

Although this year’s harvest has progressed particularly quickly, it has not been an easy one. Significant drought and heatwaves have affected crop yields, while the extremely dry conditions have also increased the risk of fire across the farm.
