Asparagus Season
Fresh asparagus grown & harvested on Algy’s farm
Grown & Harvested here
From mid-April – 21st June
Asparagus season is one of the highlights of our farming calendar. We grow it here on Algy’s farm. Each spear is freshly pinched by hand every day, ensuring it is picked at the perfect moment for flavour and quality. After harvesting, it is washed and trimmed before being prepared for sale.
Try It Fresh
In the Farm Shop
You can find our asparagus in the farm shop throughout the season, sold either loose or in fresh bunches. It’s harvested and sold quickly to preserve its freshness and taste.
In the Café
Asparagus also features in seasonal specials in the café, showcasing it at its best while it is in peak condition.
How to Cook & Store Asparagus
Asparagus is best kept simple. Snap off the woody ends, then cook by steaming, boiling, roasting or grilling until just tender. Serve with butter, olive oil, a squeeze of lemon or a poached egg for a classic seasonal dish.
To store, keep asparagus in the fridge and treat it like fresh flowers by standing the spears in a glass with a little water or wrap the ends in a damp paper towel. This helps keep it fresh and crisp for longer.
